/ Honours:
A. R. Rahman (left) continues his winning streak bagging two Grammy Awards for the song ‘Jai
Ho’ and outstanding soundtrack for the film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The composer
shared the award for ‘Jai Ho’ with lyricist Gulzar and Tanvi Shah who penned
the Spanish words of the song.
\Venu Srinivasan, Chairman of TVS
Motor and currently President of CII, is honoured by South Korean President Lee
Myung-bak with the distinguished civilian honour ‘Order of Diplomatic
Service Merit’ in recognition of his contribution in promoting Korea-India
bilateral relationships. Mr. Srinivasan is the Honorary Counsel General of the Republic of Korea.
Iceland President Olafur
Ragnar Grimsson (right) has been
conferred the Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding.
The Award comprises a memento, a scroll of honour, and a Rs.50 lakh purse. Mr.
Grimsson dedicated the award purse to promote cooperation between scientists of
the two countries in understanding glaciers and water resources in the Himalayas.
